This is the method I used for installing KOReader. It's easy!
Download this KOReader v2025.10

  1. Connect your Kobo eReader to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. Extract the ZIP file directly into the root directory of the Kobo (not inside any subfolder).
  3. Note: Use the "Extract to" function and allow file replacement. Do not drag files manually; the folder structure must remain intact.
  4. Note: On firmware 4.17 and above, prevent Nickel from scanning Unix-style hidden folders.
  5. Safely eject the Kobo. It should process a book and reboot to apply the update. Note: If it does not reboot, the extraction was done incorrectly.
  6. After rebooting, launch KOReader or Plato from Home, Library, or NickelMenu.

Installing FileBrowserPlus

FileBrowserPlus lets you send files to your Kobo from your phone. It is a convenient way to transfer ebooks, images, or other files without a computer.

Download the FileBrowserPlus plugin and connect your Kobo to your PC via USB. Place the plugin in:

.adds/koreader/plugins

After installing, safely disconnect your Kobo. To use FileBrowserPlus, go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (enable it), then select FileBrowserPlus at the bottom of the Network menu. It will display an IP address and port. On your phone or computer, visit the URL shown (for example: http://192.168.xxx.xxx:zz).

If everything is correct, you will see the FileBrowserPlus login page. The username and password can be configured, but defaults exist.
