The Pond

A surface of global attention · No agenda · No affiliation

The Pond is not a news site. It has no editorial team, no political affiliation, and no opinion on anything. It carries no advertising and promotes no agenda.

It is a mirror. What you see here reflects what millions of people around the world are searching for right now — not what any publication decided you should read.

How it works

01Search activity is monitored across six regions — Global, AU, US, GB, IN, and CA — to identify topics with sudden spikes in attention.
02For each trending topic, associated news headlines are collected to understand what's driving the interest.
03The signals are processed and resolved into a single plain-English statement of what actually happened.
04Results are only reprocessed when the underlying signals change — so you always see the freshest picture without unnecessary delay.

Cards are sorted by search volume — highest attention first. The confidence pips indicate how clearly the event could be determined from the available signals.

The Pond may be wrong. Signals can be ambiguous and statements may not tell the full story. Cards marked ⚠ indicate events with potentially serious consequences — treat them as a prompt to investigate, not a definitive account.

Search volumes are approximate and relative — Google does not publish the exact timeframe they cover. Use them to compare interest between stories, not as precise counts.
